I have 10 years experience editing scientific manuscripts, grant applications, theses and book chapters. My clients are mostly biologists for whom English is not a native language. I help ensure that language is no barrier to sharing valuable research with the global scientific community.
The cost of editing depends on the length of a document and the extent of the revisions required. Fees are normally calculated on an hourly rate (£45) plus a small administrative charge for international transactions. I can usually provide a no-obligation estimate and aim to return standard length manuscript within one to two weeks. A faster service can sometimes be negotiated if your deadlines are tight.
‘I have used the editing services of Dr Amy-Jane Beer for several years. Her professional editing has brought the best out of my manuscripts, as supported by the fact that one was awarded the Best Paper of the Year by the American Fisheries Society. There are three reasons for the success of the editing: Amy has a very broad and sound background in natural sciences; she respects and eagerly seeks out the intended message; and — most importantly — she has a brilliant ability to transform complex wording into comfortably readable and accessible text.’

‘My manuscripts have been improved and refined amazingly by Amy. I recommended Wildstory to my friends, Dr Naomi Wada and Dr Shinsuke H. Sakamoto because of Amy’s quick and kind responses, reasonable prices and the great insight resulting from her own PhD in biology. Her English editing contributes greatly to our publications and the dissemination of works in the scientific community. I trust Amy!’

‘There are several reasons why I value Amy’s work, but what sets her apart is that while some editors just correct sentences or words Amy really understands the whole paper and then edits it as a whole. I also send papers written with co-authors who speak good English, because even where words or sentences are not grammatically incorrect, Amy can always make changes to improve readability.’

‘Of course I was very satisfied with Amy’s editorial work, especially her high level of professionalism. She did not just correct the text, but also made many useful suggestions for improving the manuscript as a whole. Even reviewers commented on the improvements she made, and I am convinced that I will seek further cooperation in the future. I have gladly recommended Amy-Jane Beer to other colleagues, and both were also very satisfied with her work.
